How is EPS pension calculated?▼
EPS monthly pension = (Pensionable salary x Pensionable service) / 70. Pensionable salary is the average of last 60 months basic salary, capped at Rs 15,000 (or actual if higher pension option chosen). Pensionable service is total EPS service years, with a bonus of 2 years for service beyond 20 years.
What is the minimum and maximum EPS pension?▼
Minimum EPS pension is Rs 1,000/month (as per government guarantee). Maximum depends on service and salary but at the statutory Rs 15,000 ceiling, maximum is around Rs 7,500/month (for 35 years service). Those who opted for higher pension based on actual salary can receive significantly more.
Who is eligible for EPS pension?▼
EPS pension is available to EPFO members who have completed at least 10 years of pensionable service. Pension starts at age 58 (full) or age 50-57 (reduced by 4% per year below 58). For service less than 10 years, you receive a withdrawal benefit instead of pension.
