Form 26AS is a consolidated annual tax statement showing all TDS deducted on your income, TCS collected, advance tax paid, and refunds received. Available on the Income Tax portal. Now largely superseded by AIS but still relevant for TDS verification.

Mismatch can trigger scrutiny notice from Income Tax Department.

Rohit gets interest from 4 banks. Each bank deducts TDS. Form 26AS shows all four TDS entries against his PAN. When filing ITR, he claims credit for total TDS = Rs 8,400. If he claims a TDS not appearing in Form 26AS, ITR may be flagged for mismatch.
